State's plan for fodder resource development deliberated

A one-day State level workshop on "Fodder Resource Development Plan for Manipur" was held today at the conference hall of College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal.
The workshop was organised by the All India Coordinated Research Project on Forage Crops and Utilization, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University Imphal.
Notable dignitaries present at the event include Michael Achom, Secretary, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry; Dr LM Gamayak, Director of Research, CAU, Imphal and Professor N Brajendra Singh, Dean, College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, CAU, Imphal as the chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
The workshop also witnessed the attendance of heads of KVKs from different districts of the State, ICAR scientists, experts from various line departments, HODs of different department from CoA, Imphal, senior faculties, scientists and faculties of CoA, CAU, Imphal as well as representatives of milk unions, pony association.

Speaking at the event, Michael Achom highlighted the potential of the State's fodder sector.
However, he pointed out that there is a lack of consultation and cooperation between the concerned department, entrepreneurs and farmers.
This show a great need for coordination and integration, he said.
