'Service above self': Health camps focus on child and community wellness

Imphal, July 19 2026: Two health initiatives were held in the Imphal valley today, focusing on child health and community healthcare for differently abled persons.

As part of Rotary Maternal and Child Health Month, the Rotary Club of Imphal, RID 3240, organised a Rotary Health Camp for Children at Poirei Nawakol Children Home, Achanbigei, in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad, Manipur Prant.

A team of Rotarian doctors conducted comprehensive health check-ups for 30 girl children residing at the Home.

Free medicines were distributed based on health needs.

BVP, Manipur Prant, carried out anemia screening and distributed sanitary pads and notebooks to promote menstrual hygiene, health awareness and educational support.

Rotarians also shared breakfast with the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr N Muhindro Singh, president, Rotary Club of Imphal, said investing in children's health is an investment in society's future.

He thanked BVP and the volunteer doctors for their service.

The programme was held under Rotary's motto "Service Above Self' and the 2026-27 theme "Create Lasting Impact" .

In another outreach, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur, as part of its 13 th Foundation Day, organised a Free Medical Camp cum Health Talk at Senjam Chirang Youth Club Community Hall, .Imphal West, in collaboration with National Foundation for India, New Delhi.

RIMS Imphal's Health Educator M Meghachandra Meetei and Dr Irengbam Homendro Singh, District TB Officer Imphal West, spoke as resource persons on TB, cancer and other NCDs .

Services included tests for blood sugar, hemoglobin, blood group, TB, HIV and TB X-ray, along with consultations in Medicine, TB, Physiotherapy, ENT and Eye.

Free medicines were also distributed.

About 117 people participated in the programme.
