'Operation Bluebird' martyrs monument unveiled at Khongdei village

In honour of the martyrs of the infamous "Operation Bluebird" (Oinam incident) of July 9 1987, a monument unveiling ceremony was held at Khongdei Khuman village under Senapati district yesterday.
The event was organized by three Khongdei villages ( Khongdei khuman, Khongdei Shimphung and Khongdei Ngawar) under the aegis of Khongdei Union to pay their humble tribute to the great souls who were martyred by erecting a remembrance monument in their honour.
The occasion was graced by Lieut Gen, VS Atem VC AEM (Retd) deputy Ato kilonser as the chief guest, Lieut Gen (Retd) Ng Markson VC former Longvibu N/A executive member SC NSCN as the presiding officer, Maj Gen (Retd) Ramkathing Varah VC executive member, steering committee NSCN as the guest of honour and Maj Gen (Retd) KV Sounii MC member collective leader GPRN as the host.
It may be mentioned that 14 persons were killed during the infamous operation Bluebird (Oinam incident) of July 9 1987 including 3 persons from Khongdei Khuman village, 2 persons from Khongdei Shimphung village, 4 persons from Oinam village, 2 from Ngari Lishang, 1 from Ngamju, 1 from Pudunamei and 1 from Thingba Khunou.
