Imphal, August 17 2025: "There Are People", a new book of poems by Aasif Shah, Deputy Registrar at the High Court of Manipur, was formally released at the Centre for Meitei Pangal Cultural Studies Manipur, Mantripukhri Friends Colony, Imphal East today.

Published by Orange Books Publication, Chhattisgarh, the launch event featured prominent literary and academic figures, including Dr Moirangthem Priyobarta Singh, retired Principal of Imphal College; Dr N Nimai Singh, retired Professor of Physics, Manipur University and Director of the Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), Imphal; Md Abul Kalam, retired Deputy Director, Manipur Archives and president of EMBRACE.

The book was reviewed by Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, recipient of the prestigious Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Literary Award 2025.In his address, Dr M Priyobarta Singh highlighted the significance of the publication, describing the launch as a "national level function".

He noted that the book's English language and publication by a Chhatisgarh-based national publisher inherently broadened its reach beyond Manipur.

Dr Priyobarta strongly advocated for Manipuri poets to write in other languages to connect with readers across India.

He pointed out that 'Seawaves' remains the primary organisation within Manipur actively publishing poetry books in English.

Dr Priyobart further encouraged young writers to embrace multilingualism to amplify their voices on a wider stage.

Moreover, a book titled "Ningshinglakpa Mitkupta" written by Laishram Kumar Singh was released today in a function held at the auditorium of State Central Library, Imphal.

The book release function organised by the Public Library Mayang Imphal was graced by dignitaries, including former Minister Laishram Yatra Singh, Public Library Mayang Imphal president Laishram Randhoni, State Central Library Imphal's Chief Librarian RK Urmila Devi, former Zilla Parishad Khangabok Khundrakpam Rajmohon Singh, Kakching Khunou College's Assistant Professor Ningthoujam Sundari Devi and The Sangai Express's sub-editor Dr Laishram Lenin Singh.

Similarly, four books written by Kangjam Radhakumar were released today in a function organised by the KP Publication Imphal at JNMDA Imphal.

The books are- "Mongba Iranyai Tamna", "Mama Shija Leisharingei", "Yenningtha Thunglare Pammubi", and "Khouri Youredo Emadi".

Patsoi AC MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor, Sahitya Samalochak president L Memo Singh and secretary Nahakpam Aruna Devi attended the function as dignitaries.
