One-day Barak valley conclave calls for new roadmap on economic development in Cachar

A one-day "Barak Valley Conclave on Re-thinking Economic Development in Cachar" was held today at the Fulertal Multipurpose Hall, Cachar in Assam.
The event organised by the Barak Valley Meitei Convention, Cachar, was attended by several distinguished personalities, including Barak Valley Meitei Convention, Cachar, Assam president Tourangbam Nogendra Singha; Manipur University's Department of Anthropology, Retd Prof W Nabakumar Singh; retd teacher Yumnam Mani Singh; All Assam Manipuri Women Meira Paibi Coordination Committee president Konjengbam Aruna Devi; and Meitei Chambers of Commerce, Assam president Ksh Umananda Singha, who served as presidium members.
At the inaugural session, Athokpam Brojen delivered the keynote address, opening the floor for an interactive discussion where experts and participants shared their insights.
The evening technical session moderated by Professor W Nabakumar, featured presentations from noted scholars such as Dr Komol Singha, Professor at Dept of Economics, JNU; Dr Loitongbam Bishwajit Singh; Asst Professor at Department of South East Asian Studies, MU; Dr Thokchom Babachandra Singha, Retd Associate Prof, Dept of History, GC College, Cachar; and others.
The session deliberated on a range of research papers and culminated in the adoption of four key resolutions.
The resolutions included i) launching a sustained campaign by implementing the ideas and suggestions made by experts during the conclave to improve the overall economic condition of the Meiteis in Barak valley, ii) to promote entrepreneurship within the community, iii) urging relevant stakeholders to fulfill the objectives of the conclave, and iv) entrusting authority to Barak Valley Meitei Convention to oversee and implement these resolutions.
