Imphal, May 16 2026: As a 42-year-old sexual accused was produced before the Special Court POCSO, Imphal East this morning, a strong protest erupted in front of the Court complex with angry locals and family members of the victim trying to attack the victim.

The accused, a CISF Constable from Imphal East district under the jurisdiction of Heingang police station was brought to Cheirap Court complex along with other undertrial prisoners from Manipur Central Jail in a prisoner van by security personnel.

The accused was produced before the Court after the completion of judicial custody period along with a prayer for further judicial remand of 15 more days.

As the accused along with other undertrial prisoners were brought to the Court complex, angry locals and family members of the minor victim mostly womenfolk rushed toward the accused in an attempt to attack him.

Taking serious note of the unfolding situation, security personnel acted swiftly and took the accused persons along with other undertrial prisoners inside the Court and closed the main entrance gate of the Court building.

On the other hand, the Court remanded the accused in judicial custody till May 30 .

On May 2, the Court had rejected a bail application and remanded the accused injudicial custody till today in connection with a case of sexual assault on a minor on multiple occasions since April last year.
