Birth centenary celebration of RKCS wraps up

The yearlong birth centenary celebration of Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh, popularly known as RKCS concluded today at the auditorium of Manipur Central Library, Imphal.
The RKCS Birth Centenary Celebration which began on October 13, 2024, featured a series of events honoring the birth of the pioneer artist.
The closing function organised by the RKCS Birth Centenary Celebration Committee (RBCCC) was graced by M Joy Singh, former Commissioner (Art & Culture), Manipur; Dr Keisham Sobita Devi, chairperson, RBCCC; and Aribam Joychandra Sharma, former president, Ats Society.

The function began with the offering of floral tribute to a photograph of Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh followed by the releasing of a book titled, "Khonjel Amasung Khongthang (Collection of poems on RKCS)" .
Speaking on the occasion, M Joy lauded the RBCCC for successfully organising the year-long birth centenary celebration of Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh to honour the visual arts legend.
He asserted that RKCS was a pioneer artist who pursued the goal of elevating the visual art movement in Manipur.
"His numerous paintings on mythological, historical, and contemporary subjects have been instrumental in preserving and showcasing Manipur's rich cultural heritage', added M Joy.
Sahitya Akademi Awardee and noted poet Saratchand Thiyam also gave a talk on "Globalisation and 100 Years Journey of RKCS" .
As a part of the celebration, the RKCS Birth Centenary Art Exhibition Award was conferred on Khundongbam Sadananda for his work "Returning Home".
Mangsatabam Samson Meitei and Yumlembam Udoynanda also received Honourable Mentions for their work "Punshigi Khongchatta Mama" and "Ephemeral Dawn" respectively.
A poem recitation session was also conducted featuring noted poets Uma Mayengbam, Laishram Romola, Tongbram Amarjit, Wanglembam Niranjana, BB Sharma, Rahul Hidang, Khwairakpam Budha and Lairikyengbam Nganthoi.
