Mega free health camp provides medical care to more than 800 patients

Bishnupur, September 13 2026: A mega free health camp was organised today at Thanga Haoreng Chingyang by Seva Bharati Manipur, National Medicos Organisation (NMO) - Manipur Unit, Manipur Heartcare, Bharat Vikas Parishad and Sinheibi Development Organisation, Keibul Lamjao, in association with UCT, Thanga.

The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the people of Thanga and neighbouring areas, with more than 1000 patients examined and treated during the day.

Around 40 doctors from various medical disciplines, led by renowned physician Professor Dr Th Sachin Deba Singh, Department of Cardiology of RIMS; Dr T Dhaneshor Sharma, Radiation Oncology KARKINOS Health Care Imphal participated in the camp.

The total medical and support team comprised around 100 members, including doctors, paramedical personnel and technical staff.

A large quantity of medicines was also distributed free of cost to the patients.

While speaking on the sidelines of the camp, Ashikumar Singh, Former Chairman, Loktak Development Authority (LDA) and Senior State Spokesperson, BJP Manipur Pradesh thanked the organisers for coming together for the meaningful community service initiative, with special thanks to Seva Bharati.

Imphal, for taking the lead role in this noble cause.

He expressed contentment to see a large number of people coming out to avail the medical services provided during the camp with special reference to the elderly people as they are among the most vulnerable and often need greater access to regular healthcare and medical attention.

While expressing gratitude to all the doctors and medical professionals who generously gave their time and expertise to serve the people, he appreciated the community members, volunteers and everyone who worked tirelessly to make the camp a success.

"Serving our people, especially those who need it most, is both a responsibility and a privilege," he added.

Professor Dr Th Sachin Deba Singh of RIMS, who led the medical team, said that the initiative was particularly important for people living in rural and remote areas who face difficulties in accessing hospitals and specialist healthcare due to distance and financial constraints.

"Accessibility and financial constraints can often prevent people in the villages from reaching hospitals and consulting specialist doctors in a timely manner.

Through camps like this, we are able to bring healthcare closer to the people.

At the same time, it gives us doctors an opportunity to come into the community, listen to patients personally, understand their concerns and give them the time and attention they deserve.

It is not merely about providing medical treatment; it is also about fulfilling our responsibility as doctors and being a part of the community we serve," Dr Th Sachin Deba said.

Sharing his experience, Haobijam Sanatomba aged 84 who is a resident of Thanga Chingkha, who attended the camp appreciated that the camp had specialists from different medical fields and provided medicines to patients at the same time, making it easier for people like him to receive comprehensive medical attention without having to travel far.

The successful organisation of the camp highlighted the importance of taking accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services closer to rural communities, particularly senior citizens and other vulnerable sections who may face difficulties in travelling to hospitals.

The organisers expressed their appreciation to the participating doctors, medical and technical teams, volunteers, community members and all those who contributed to making the health camp a success.
