Launch of PMDDKY by PM webcasted widely in State

Imphal, October 11 2025:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhyana Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, two major agricultural schemes with a combined outlay of over Rs 35,000 crore.
The live webcasting of the national launching programme was successfully organised at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Imphal West, Lamphelpat.
The main event, held at the NASC Complex, New Delhi, was viewed live by around 150 farmers and 20 officials representing various departments and institutions from Imphal West district.
The programme at KVK Imphal West commenced with a welcome address by Dr L Kanta Singh, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Imphal West.
In his address, Dr Kanta highlighted the objectives of PMDDKY which aims to ensure farmers' welfare through integrated interventions focusing on income enhancement, sustainable farming practices, and technological innovation.
He emphasized the importance of government initiatives in transforming agriculture into a profitable and resilient enterprise.
Laishram Boby Devi, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Imphal West District, graced the event as the chief guest and delivered a motivational speech on the importance of empowering farmers through timely input distribution, financial support, and awareness of flagship government schemes.
She encouraged farmers to adopt modem agricultural technologies and sustainable methods for higher productivity.
Dr Ch Basudha Devi, Head of Regional Centre (HORC), ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, spoke on the role of research and extension in bridging the gap between scientific innovations and farmers' fields.
She underlined the need for collaboration between research institutions, KVKs, and local governance bodies to ensure effective implementation of schemes like PMDDKY for holistic agricultural development.
The event concluded with appreciation from participating farmers who expressed optimism that PMDDKY will bring transformative change in the farming landscape of Manipur.
Moreover, KVK Imphal East also organised the launching programme of the PMDDKY and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses at its campus in Andro today.
The programme also included the inauguration and foundation stone laying of more than 1,100 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Food Processing sectors.
The programme was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director, Extension Education; Ch Chandra Meitei, khullakpa, Andro; Dr I Bhupenchandra, Deputy Director of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal; Dr Ch Birendrajit, Deputy Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal; Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK, Imphal East; and Nandini Chongtham, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Imphal East.
Over 183 farmers from across Imphal East district also participated in the event.
Distribution of seeds to the farmers and live webcasting of the national launching programme of PMDDKY were the main highlights "of the event.
Vety & AH Services
The Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur also organised the live webcasting of the national launching programme of the PMDDKY at the Farmers' Training Hall, Veterinary Complex, Sanjenthong today.
The live streaming of the national launch was witnessed by officers of the Department and farmers from various districts.
The programme held at the Farmers' Training Hall was graced by N Kheda Varta Singh, Secretary (Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services), Manipur; Dr RK Khogendrajit Singh, Director, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur; and Kennedy Singh, Managing Director, MMPCU Ltd, Porompat as presidium members.
RCONF Imphal
The Regional Centre of Organic and Natural Farming (RCONF), Imphal, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, organised a special programme to mark the national launch of PMDDKY by the Prime Minister today.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Green Foundation (Regional Council).
Dr VY Deoghare, Director In-charge, RCONF Imphal, led the event and participated in the official launch programme virtually.
As part of the celebrations, Certificates of Natural Farming were distributed to farmers certified by The Green Foundation, practicing natural farming.
The recognition not only honours their commitment to sustainable agriculture but also motivates others to adopt similar practices for a healthier and more self-reliant farming ecosystem.
