he Directorate of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, Government of Manipur, has announced the commencement of the 3rd Round of the Classical Swine Fever (CSF) Vaccination Programme.
Scheduled to begin on May 15, the statewide initiative operates under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India.
Classical Swine Fever remains a significant threat to the State's agricultural economy due to its highly contagious nature.
The viral disease often leads to high mortality rates and reduced productivity in pig populations, causing severe financial strain on local farmers.
To combat these outbreaks and strengthen regional disease control, the Department has prioritized these regular vaccination drives.
The upcoming campaign will be implemented following the strict Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines established by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.
Officials have confirmed that the vaccines will be administered free of cost to all eligible pig populations across Manipur.
The Department urged all pig farmers and industry stakeholders to cooperate fully with field staff during the campaign.
Officials emphasized that active community participation is vital to ensuring timely vaccination, preventing the spread of the virus, and ultimately safeguarding the pig farming sector within the State.
