Luchingpurel Akaba remembered on 81st birth anniversary

The 81st birth anniversary of Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba cum 13th Foundation Day celebration of Pandam, an evening daily was held today at the Shrine of Integrity Park in Wakha Leitna Ching, Imphal East district.
The event jointly organised by Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL) and Chingsubam Sagei Apokpa Irat Thouni Lup (CHSAITL) began with the offering of floral tributes to the statues of social & cultural activist Chingsubam Akaba and Rungsung Suisha, leader of Tangkhul community.
Speaking on the occasion, CSAITL advisor Ch Laicha recalled the remarkable contributions made by Chingsubam Akaba who championed the cause for Meetei Mayek and the traditional religion of the Meetei community.
He asserted that Luchingpurel Akaba also worked tirelessly for peaceful coexistence amongst the different communities of the State till his last breath.
Due to his dedication and contributions in reviving Meetei Mayek, students can now pursue Master's (MA) and Doctorate (PhD) Manipuri in Meetei Mayek, he added.
Moirangthem Naokhamba, managing editor of Pandam, announced that preparations have been made to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a statue of Luchingpurel Akaba at Lairembi Leikai in Jiribam district soon.
As part of the event, the annual calendar of Pandam for the year 2026 was also released.
The event was attended by LUCANIL chief advisor Moirangthem Naodalenkhomba, CHSAITL advisor Chingsubam Laicha Meetei, All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) president Asem Bhakta and LUCANIL advisor Namoijam Tomba among others.
