Moirang, November 05 2026: Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam inaugurated the 1st Vegetable Festival, 2026 at Khoijuman under Oinam Assembly Constituency in Bishnupur, today.

The three-day festival is being organised by Khoijuman Apunba Chaokhat Thourang Lup at Khoijuman Khullen Playground.

Speaking as the chief guest, Govindas said that the contribution of Toubul, Khoijuman and Kwasiphai villages to Manipur's total vegetable production, which stood at around 4 per cent a few years ago, has now increased to 19.7 per cent.

Apart from increasing production, promoting organic and natural farming could help address some of the health concerns emerging globally, he said.

The Minister urged farmers to increase vegetable production in the coming years and make efforts to ensure that locally produced vegetables contribute significantly to the State's economy.

The inaugural programme was also attended by Oinam AC MLA Irengbam Nalini Devi, Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Thaithuilung Pamei, Bishnupur Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam and LDA Project Director Heisnam Balakrishna Singh.

The dignitaries inspected the stalls set up at the festival.
