Basic fire fighting training for City Police personnel conducted

A 1-day fire fighting training for City Police personnel was conducted today at Manipur Fire Service Headquarters in Imphal.
The training programme was organised by the Manipur Fire Service in collaboration with City Police Station, Imphal, with the aim to equip City Police personnel with the fundamental knowledge and skills to respond to fire emergencies, encompassing fire prevention, basic fire suppression techniques, and evacuation procedures.
The programme was attended by L Nabachandra Singh, Director, Manipur Fire Services; Nameirakpam Gokul, Officer in-charge, City Police; and Kh Surchandra Singh, Station Officer, Manipur Fire Service among others.
Speaking on the occasion, L Nabachandra stressed on the need to create awareness about the basics of fire fighting techniques, prevention, protection, and other lifesaving measures to be taken up during fire accidents and disasters.
"Basic fire awareness also involves knowing who to call in case of a fire and what not to do before the Fire Service team arrives", said the Director while adding that fire safety awareness will help prevent accidents and ensure quick responses in emergencies.
He also sought the co-operation of the public by way of giving the right and precise information during emergencies so that they may be able to save lives and properties.
He continued that in the event of a fire, city police play a crucial role by acting as first responders, managing the scene, and ensuring public safety.
"City Police coordinate with other emergency services like the fire department, provide crowd control, and assist in evacuations.
Police are also responsible for maintaining order during and after the fire", he added.
Furthermore, L Nabachandra mentioned that effective fire fighting training programmes will equip Manipur Police personnel with the knowledge and skills to handle fire-related incidents, ensuring their safety and the safety of the public.
