Thoubal, November 03 2025:
Despite the State Government's ongoing efforts to uplift government schools under initiatives like the School Fagathansi Mission, the Heirok Higher Secondary School in Thoubal district continues to struggle without a principal and a vice-principal, leaving the institution in a state of neglect and disarray.
The Heirok Apunba Club (HAC) has called upon the authorities concerned to immediately appoint a regular principal and a vice-principal by November 10, cautioning that failure to do so would compel the local community to launch strong forms of agitation.
Speaking during a press meet held at the HAC office, Wahengbam Jivan, president of the club, expressed deep concern over the prolonged administrative neglect.
"Heirok is a densely populated area with only one Higher Secondary School.
Yet, for years, it has been left without a regular principal, leaving the institution in a pitiable condition," he said.
He further revealed that the school has not been assigned a regular head by the Education (S) Department for many years.
"Though one or two principals were deputed in the past, they stayed only a few days before retirement or promotion.
Once they left, the post remained vacant, worsening the situation" Jivan lamented.
With the form fill up of Class X and XII fast approaching, the absence of key administrative heads has left both students and parents anxious.
"This uncertainty is endangering the academic careers of hundreds of children.
The future of our students cannot be left in such instability," he added.
The HAC precedent cautioned that if the government fails to appoint a regular principal and viceprincipal by the deadline, the Heirok Apunba Lup, along with the students and residents, will initiate strong protests.
The press meet was also attended by HAC secretary L Nelson, Education secretary-in-charge Johny Khuman, and other key members of the club.
