RIMS celebrates National Voluntary Blood Donation Day

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2025 today at Sushruta Hall, RIMS, under the theme, "Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We SaveLives".
As per a release issued by RIMS, the event was organised by the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, with support from the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Manipur, and MACS Manipur.
The celebration was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent.
RIMS Hospital, Imphal; Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, Imphal; Dr Pratima Khoyumthem, HoD (In-charge), Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS; Prof A Barindra Sharma, Professor, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS; and Dr H Teresa, Deputy Director, Blood Transfusion Services, Manipur as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar said, "Voluntary blood donation saves countless lives- donors are not just giving blood, they are giving hope and a future".
"At RIMS, we strive for a self-sufficient system without replacement donations, with growing support from paramilitary forces, students, NGOs, and individuals.
One unit of blood can save up to three lives- let us pledge that no life should ever be lost for want of blood", he added.
As a mark of appreciation, voluntary donor organisations from the central paramilitary and defence forces, student organisations, and individual donors were felicitated for their humanitarian contributions and continued support to blood donation drives.
In total, 30 voluntary blood donor organisations, 4 central paramilitary and defence units, 7 student organisations, and 12 individual donors were honored during the programme.
