Abdul Kadir Murder case : Accused remanded to judicial custody

Imphal, June 30 2025: The Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West 1, has remanded Longjam Boy @ Khaba, the main accused in the illegal detention and murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai, to judicial custody till July 14.Khaba (35), s/o Ibohal of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong was produced before the Court after the completion of his police custody period today.

According to the prosecution (APP), Khaba, who claims to be a commander of Arambai Tenggol Unit 27 QRT, was arrested on June 22 and he confessed to his involvement in the crime.

The Court was informed that Khaba and his accomplices had detained and tortured the victim, leading to his death.

They then allegedly disposed of the body on the bank of Nambul River at Samurou and attempted to cover up the crime by destroying evidence and misleading the family and police.

The APP further submitted that several individuals involved in the case remain at large, and ongoing search operations and raids are being conducted to apprehend them.

Therefore, the prosecution prayed for the judicial custody remand of the main accused.

The Court, after hearing the submission of APP and on perusal of the case record, remanded Khaba to judicial custody till July 14 .

Police have so far arrested 10 individuals (2 on bail) and seized five vehicles in connection with the case.
