MSCU organises Cooperative seminar

A one-day seminar on the theme 'Cooperative Enterprises: The only means for development of State economy' was organised by Manipur State Cooperative Union at Gandhi Memorial Hall today.
The seminar held under the sponsorship of National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi was attended by Lok Sabha MP Dr Th Meinya Singh, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Commissioner (Cooperation) K Moses Chalai and Cooperative Society Registrar Thaithuilung Pamei as members of the dais.
Noting that Indian economy is recovering at appreciable pace after a slight slump some months back, Dr Meinya called upon beneficiaries of various cooperative schemes to sustain the cooperative momentum so that Manipur could achieve allround progress.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Ratankumar attributing improvement in the State's economy to the cooperative movement voiced strong resentment against some individuals running cooperative societies to take undue advantage of financial assistance be extended for various cooperative projects.
Stressing on the need to weed out such elements so as to enable cooperative projects serve its purpose, the Works Minister reminded that Manipur's economy is very much dependent on judicious utilisation of development funds.
Technical session of the seminar was held with Additional RCS Manipur Th Manao Singh, Bishnupur DCO Kh Tomba Singh and MCMED Managing Director S Parmeswar Singh as the resource persons.
