Unity March campaign launched at Chandel and Tengnoupal

The Sardar@50 Unity March, a nationwide initiative honouring the 150thbirth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was launched today at Chandel and Tengnoupal as part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat campaign.
The march aims to celebrate the enduring legacy of Patel's unparalleled role in unifying India and fostering the spirit of national integration.
Chandel
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat Chandel, launched the Sardar@150 Unity March campaign at the Conference Hall, DC Complex, Chandel district.
The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, L Nandakumar Singh; SK Angshel, Convenor for Sardar@ 150 Padyatra, Chandel District; P Rebecca Rangnamei, District Youth Officer, Mera Yuva Bharat; and Dr Monoharmayum Shantakumar Sharma, Assistant Professor and NSS Program Officer, United College Chandel.
This nationwide campaign commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, highlighting his legacy of unity, patriotism, and service.
A series of padyatras and events will be held to raise awareness among citizens, especially the youth, about Patel's contributions to the nation.
The campaign aims to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and social harmony through various activities and outreach programs engaging students, youth organizations, and community leaders" .
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Chandel emphasized the importance of the campaign and announced that Chandel district will observe two padyatras.
The first padyatra will commence on November 15, starting from Maha Union Govt Higher Secondary School to DC Office Compound.
The second padyatra, for Chakpikarong block, will begin from Chakpikarong Govt Higher Secondary School to Chakpikarong Bazar.
Tengnoupal
In Tengnoupal, the Sardar@150 Unity March campaign was launched today at the Conference Hall, DC Office, Tengnoupal district, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat, Tengnoupal.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal, Saurabh Yadav; Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Asghar Arzad; SK Angshel, Convenor for Sardar@150 Padyatra, Tengnoupal District; and P Rebecca Rangnamei, District Youth Officer, MYB Tengnoupal.
In his introductory speech, SK Angshel highlighted the significance of the nationwide campaign, which commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, emphasizing his legacy of unity, patriotism, and service.
Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal, Saurabh Yadav, emphasized the importance of the campaign and announced that Tengnoupal district will observe a series of padyatras and events, including essay writing, painting competitions, and outreach programs.
These activities aim to raise awareness among students, citizens, and especially the youth, about Patel's contributions to the nation.

The first padyatra is scheduled to commence on November 11, starting from Tengnoupal High School to District Headquarters.
Assam Rifles lead National Unity Day celebrations in Chandel's border villages In a spirited tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Assam Rifles organised National Unity Day celebrations across six remote villages of Chandel District, Manipur.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the day began with a community cleanliness drive, reinforcing shared responsibility for public hygiene under the vision of Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat.
This was followed by a tree plantation campaign, where 340 saplings were planted by villagers and troops symbolising growth, solidarity and environmental stewardship.
The celebrations culminated in a high-spirited 'Run for Fun', drawing 153 participants from all age groups.
Men, women and children ran together through village trails, embodying the ideals of fitness, harmony and patriotic pride.
Held in Sehlon, Aibol Joupi, Phoilen, Kovang, New Samtal and Old Samtal, the outreach highlighted Assam Rifles' enduring role in strengthening national integration through grassroots engagement.
By blending civic action with cultural participation, Assam Rifles continues to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India not just in remembrance, but through meaningful action that binds communities together.
Thoubal & Tamenglong to hold Unity March
The district administrations of Thoubal and Tamenglong have announced plans to organise a Sardar@150 Unity March on October 31, 2025, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabha Patel, the Iron Man of India In a separate press briefings held at their respective offices, the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal and Tamenglong, Hannah Kahmei and Dr L Angshim Dangshawa, respectively, shared details of the upcoming events aimed at promoting national unity and integrity.
Dr Hannah Kahmei stated that as part of the National Unity March, the District Police of Thoubal will organise a Unity March campaign at Thoubal on October 31 with a mini marathon, which will be flagged off from District Police HQ and proceed up to Khongjom Kheba Hill.
She also announced that a massive Unity March will be held on November 20 at Khongjom War Memorial Complex, with participation from people representing various walks of life.
She appealed to the public to join and support the event, emphasizing that such initiatives foster community spirit and strengthen the message of a united India.
Meanwhile, in Tamenglong, Dr L Angshim Dangshawa informed that the district administration will also organise a Unity March on October 31, 2025, beginning at 7 am from Jadonang Park and proceeding to Apollo Ground, Tamenglong.
He encouraged students and members of the general public to actively participate in the event, adding that T-shirts will be distributed to all participants.
