MASTEC holds State-level disaster management workshop

Imphal, July 30 2026: Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) on Thursday organised a one-day state-level training workshop on 'Disaster Management' at Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat.

The programme was held under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur.

Secretary (S&T) Kengoo Zuringla attended as chief guest, while Joint Secretary KH Leiyaphi Rita, Manipur Fire Service Director L Nabachandra, and MASTEC Director Dr Kh Rakesh were present as guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, L Nabachandra said disaster is a serious concern and the role of Fire Service extends beyond firefighting.

He stressed that during disasters, Fire Service personnel have major responsibilities.

Highlighting that Manipur falls in an earthquake zone, he urged people to follow earthquake-resistant building codes and said every citizen should learn basic life-saving skills.

As part of the workshop, Manipur Fire Service also demonstrated life-saving skills.
