KMWO urges Govt to include "Yelhoume history" in school syllabus

The Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) has urged the relevant authorities of the Government to include the history of Manipur's indigenous communities in school syllabus.
KMWO president Nasir Khan made this appeal during an awareness programme organised at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal today.
Power Department's Superintending Engineer Er Mohd Riyajuddin Ichan, KMWO advisor Th Manihar, political activist Dr Haobijam Gitajen Meitei and ICHAM's former president Nongthombam Rajendro among others attended the programme.
Speaking at the event, KMWO president Nasir Khan said the inclusion of the history of the indigenous peoples of Manipur in the school syllabus will help teach younger generations about their origins, roots, culture and history.
This inclusion will help the indigenous cpmmunities preserve their history and identity, and aid in uniting them, he added.
During the event, prizes were distributed to winners of a general knowledge competition held at Lilong Haoreibi College on October 5 .
