Man caught impersonating Govt official

Imphal, August 26 2025:
A man who tried to deceive the Court by pretending to be a Government employee has been arrested and sent to police custody.
The man arrested has been identified as Md Fajul Haque (31) and he hails from Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong Makha.
Md Fajul Haque posed as one Md Ajid Khan and produced forged Government employee identity card and salary certificates to be surety for an accused arrested in another case by the police.
This incident occurred on August 21 before the Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal East.
The man appeared in the Court of the JMFC Imphal East located at Lamphel Court complex and produced the forged documents to be surety for one Tampakmayum Arshad, arrested by Andro police.
Suspicious of the man, the Presiding Officer alerted and enquired the originality of the documents with the Sub Divisional Officer of Lilong.
The SDO Lilong then in formed the Presiding Officer that the signature on the salary certificate was not her's, and further confirmed that the office does not have any employee by the given name.
This confirmation of the SDO then led to a case against Md Fajul Haque and his arrest on the spot.
During interrogation later, Md Fajul Haque allegedly revealed that he was hired by one Naser of Lilong Ushoipokpi and given the fake salary certificate, identity card and Aadhaar card to be a surety of accused Tampakmayum Arshad.
Md Fajul Haque was produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West and remanded to judicial custody till August 27 .
