RIMS begins onsite programme on 'NABH Hospital 6th Edition Standards'

Imphal, July 24 2026: The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Friday launched a three-day onsite programme on the Implementation of NABH Hospital 6th Edition Standards at Sushruta Hall.

As per a release issued by RIMS, the initiative aims to strengthen institutional preparedness for NABH accreditation by enhancing the knowledge and skills of faculty members and key hospital functionaries on the latest standards.

Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, inaugurated the programme in the presence of Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, and resource persons Dr Prashant S Kelkar, Consulting Pediatrician & Deputy CMO, JNPA Hospital, Navi Mumbai, and Dr Monika Gupta, Professor of Pathology and Associate Dean, Academic Excellence & Accreditation, Pramukhswami Medical College, Gujarat.

Speaking at the inaugural, Prof Sunil Kumar said the programme marks a key milestone in RIMS' NABH accreditation journey initiated under the guidance of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

He added that NABH accreditation will improve patient-centred care, quality, accountability and standardised hospital practices.

He expressed confidence that RIMS will become one of the first NABH-accredited medical institutes in the Northeast.

On day one, participants were oriented on the NABH framework, structure, accreditation process and benefits.

Technical sessions covered Access, Assessment and Continuity of Care.

Care of Patients, Management of Medication, and Patient Rights and Education under the 6th Edition Standards, followed by interactive exercises.

Faculty members, nursing officers, engineers, medical records personnel and other stakeholders from RIMS are participating.

The next two days will cover infection control, patient safety, facility management, HR, information systems, documentation, internal assessment and accreditation processes.
