AMWJU team reaches Shirui

Imphal, May 24 2025: After a team of journalists who were travelling to Shirui, Ukhrul to cover the opening function of Shirui Lily Festival 2025 were forced to turn back from Gwaltabi after troops of Mahar Regiment forced the MST bus in which the journalists were travelling to cover up its signage "Manipur State Transport", a team of the All Manipur Working journalists' Union (AMWJU) led by its president Asem Bhakta went to Ukhrul today and joined the closing function of the festival.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club this morning before departing for Ukhrul, AMWJU general secretary Kh Naoba said that they will come back tomorrow after attending today's closing function.

Protesting the humiliation of journalists by troops of Mahar Regiment at Gwaltabi by forcing the MST bus to conceal its signage and thus obstructing the journalists from covering the opening ceremony on May 20, AMWJU and EGM have been boycotting Government related news.
