72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrated

Imphal, November 23 2025: The 72nd All India Cooperative Week 2025 was celebrated today at Shree Shree Gourbogind Girls College, Khurai Sajor Leikai, Imphal East district under the theme, "Expanding Cooperatives in Emerging Areas such as Tourism, Health, Green Energy, Platform Cooperative Society, Kitchen Cooperative Society and any other Conceivable area".

The event was organised by the District Cooperative Office, Imphal East in association with Hingminnasi Haraona Thrift & Credit Cooperative Society Limited.

The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including W Ibohal Singh, Registrar, Cooperative Society, Manipur; L Tompishak Singh, president, Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU); Dr Kh Ramanando Bheigyachandra, Director, Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Imphal; Jeena Potshangbam, Board of Member, TSU, Anand Gujarat; and P Ranjit Singh, Manipur State Cooperative Bank Limited, Imphal.

Y Mohenjit Singh, DCO, Imphal East and Kh Naobi Meitei, president, HHTCCS were the chief hosts of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Y Ibohal said that All India Cooperative Week is celebrated every year to promote the cooperative spirit, highlight the sector's contributions to the economy, and foster dialogue on its future development.

He asserted that making the people aware of cooperative societies is crucial as they serve as powerful, democratic, and inclusive tools for socioeconomic development, self-reliance, and poverty reduction.

He also emphasized that the success of the cooperative movement depends on the efficiency of the entire system, which includes every cooperative society and each individual involved, not just the Department of Cooperation or the Registrar's office.

Y Ibohal further appealed to all the cooperative societies and stakeholders to strengthen the cooperative movement in Manipur for inclusive and sustainable development.

As part of the event, the 'Best Employee of District Cooperative Society Imphal East' an 'Best Employee of Hingminnasi Haraona Thrift & Credit Cooperative Society Limited' were also presented to outstanding employees.
