Training on smart farming with exotic fruits held at Senapati

Senapati, June 21 2025:
A one-day training-cum-awareness programme on "Smart farming with exotic fruits: Blueberry, Avocado & Kiwi Plantation", along with the distribution of planting materials was held today at Mao Poumai Catholic Women Hall, Senapati.
The event was organised today by the office of the District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Senapati, under the Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation while distribution of planting materials was carried out under the RKVY-CAFETERIA scheme for the year 2023-24 (2nd instalment), according to a statement issued by District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Senapati.
The programme was graced by PF Lophro, SDO Tadubi, as the chief guest, with VD Napoleon Pou, Deputy Director of Agriculture (SC), RPF Mao, as the guest of honour and Athaipu Palmei as the president of the function.
More than 50 farmers from various villages across the district - including Mao Song Song, Rabunamei, Makuilongdi, Sorbung, Chilivai Phaibung-actively participated in the training session.
During the programme, a variety of planting materials such as tree bean saplings, orange saplings, ginger rhizomes, and NPK fertilizers were distributed to the farmers to promote diversified and sustainable farming practices.
The programme was attended by R Saveina, AAO, and technical staff from the office of the DO (H&SC), Senapati.
Resource persons Dr Star Luikham and NG Ngaorai shared valuable insights on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for exotic fruits.
The event concluded on a positive note with participants showing keen interest in adopting the recommended practices to improve their farming activities.
