Many demand justice for Abdul Kadir

Imphal, June 19 2025: A sit-in protest was staged today at Paobitek Mayai Leikai Community Hall demanding justice for Chesam Abdul Kadir alias Chesam Achouba.

Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, Thongkhongmayum Bidya, a protestor, strongly condemned the murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir, a differently-abled person from Paobitek Mayai Leikai.

"The body of Chesam Abdul Kadir was recovered from the bank of Nambul River near Samurou Makha Leikai, days after he had gone missing from Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai on June 10", she added.

She urged the authorities concerned to take immediate and stringent action under the law against all those involved in this 'inhumane', act.

"All the persons involved in the case, must be booked under stringent law and arrested within 24 hours.

The chargesheet for the case should be submitted within 7 days", demanded Bidya.

Moreover, the Peace & Integrity Committee, Kyamgei (PICK) and All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup have also condemned the murder of Chesam Abdul Kadir in the strongest terms.

In a release, PICK and All Kyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup urged the authorities concerned to take immediate action to book the culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law.

The organisations shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

The organisations also urged all to show restraint and refrain from making statements that may give the incident a communal tone and create misunderstanding among the people.
