AMMUWU convention held

All Manipur Minority Unorganised Worker's Union (AMMUWU), a branch unit of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) held a State level convention at Sangaiyumpham Part II, Cherapur Mayai Leikai, Thoubal today.
The convention was graced by L Sotin Kumar, general secretary of All India Trade Union Congress Manipur, H Subhas, president of AMMUWU, general secretary, Raheena Begum Raj, AITUC Manipur, secretary, Kh Samungou, social worker Haji Abul Kalam Azad, Meitei Pangal Council Manipur, president, Haji Arafat and joint secretary of AMMUWU, Ph Firoj Khan as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, L Sotin Kumar stated that around 13 lakhs people of the State working in different professions are being paid on a minimal wage and are living in despair.
To move forward towards a developed society, it is necessary to encourage them and give them basic rights.
He continued that AITUC has been relentlessly working for the welfare of labourers and urged to set up more welfare boards for their welfare.
He also stressed that the present conflict in the State has hampered the activities of labourers and urged the Government to end the 18 month long crisis in the State.
