The number of active COVID-19 cases in Manipur has risen to 35 as three more persons tested positive for the contagion today.
Notably, Covid cases have been rising steadily in the State since June 8, when the virus returned after a long break with 14 new cases reported yesterday alone.
The three individuals who tested positive today are residents of Imphal East, Imphal West and Tengnoupal.
As 22 persons were tested today, the positivity rate stands at 13.6 per cent.
Manipur has reported 37 positive cases of the contagion since June 8 with two persons discharged so far.
Meanwhile, India's active COVID-19 caseload dropped marginally to 6,483 on Wednesday, from 6,836 the previous day, according to the latest data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Four deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Of the four deaths, two were reported in Maharashtra, while Kerala and Delhi reported one each.
All four individuals were elderly and had existing respiratory ailments and other chronic conditions.
The country is currently witnessing a rise in infections driven by emerging sub-variants, including LF.7, XFG, JN.l, and the newly detected NB.1.8.1 .
