Imphal, January 16 2026: The 1st Foundation Day of Gender & Social Development Co-Ordinating Committee (GSDCC) was celebrated today at the Pureiromba Youth Club Community Hall in Bamon Kampu.

The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency MLA, Sheikh Noorul Hassan; Up-Adakshya, Imphal East, Kshetrimayum Tama; Former Zilla Parishad Member, 12-Bamon Kampu, Imphal East, Thiyam (O) Golmei Kachungna; Zilla Parishad Member, 12-Bamon Kampu, Imphal East and advisor GSDCC, Heirom Dhamendra; District Mission Manager (DMM), Imphal East, N Basanta Singh; and Chairperson, Bamon Kampu Gram Panchayat and chairman GSDCC, Thangjam Hemanta Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, Noorul Hassan said that Kshetrigao AC covers 30 villages and to unite and develop these villages, women need to be empowered.

Emphasizing the need for strengthening the existing Self Help Groups, the MLA asserted that if women can be financially independent, they will not be dependent on anyone and they will be able to raise their children independently.

"If we want to bring a change in society, we must invest in our youth, guiding them with strong education and character-building to become capable individuals, ensuring they develop the skills and civic responsibility to actively contribute to their communities", said Noorul Hassan.

Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam

Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam celebrated its 5th Foundation Day at Manipur Hindi Parishad, Old Assembly Road, Imphal today.

The celebration was graced by Dr Chongtham Narendra Singh, Advocate; Haobam Chitra Devi, president, Eikhoigi Apunba Shaktam; Dr Kshetrimayum Subadani Devi, president, Mahila Kavya Manch, Manipur; and Nahakpam Momon Singh, managing director, NRS Motors Pvt Ltd as presidium members.

Speakers at the event stressed preserving the community's age-old traditions and identity, calling for unity, volunteerism, and sacrifice to build a brighter future.

URDO

United Rural Development Organisation (URDO) celebrated its 27th Foundation Day at Phoubakchao Bazar yesterday.

The celebration was graced by dignitaries, including Shahabuddin Cheshaba, president, URDO; Angom Tiken, retired Head Master, Phoubakchao Awang Junior High School; Nongjao Jeinul Abeddin, ex-Pradhan, Phoubakchao Sekmaijin Gram Panchayat; BM Yaima Shah, president, FOCS; social worker Urikhimbam Ramesh and social worker Laishram Kunjakeshwor.

Speakers at the event dwelt on the various welfare activities carried out by URDO for the people of Sekmaijin to Khordak areas.
