PCCF seeks public cooperation in saving forests

Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai, who also serves as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF), has appealed for public cooperation in preventing forest fires and curbing illegal activities in forest areas.
Anurag distributed 15 Bolero campers and 20 motorcycles to frontline staff of the Forest Department during a programme at the Manipur Forest Training Institute in Luwangsangbam, as part of initiatives to strengthen forest protection measures by the Government of India and the Manipur Government.
The vehicles were distributed through the DFOs of different Forest Divisions.
Addressing the function, the PCCF stated that the vehicles were distributed to enable frontline staff to respond swiftly to forest fires, as the dry season has begun.
He urged the public to promptly report forest fires to the Forest Department.
The programme was also attended by APCCF Soreiphy Vashum, Special CCF/T-II Gaithaolu Thaimei, Secretary of Forest Environment and Climate Change RK Amarjit and Director of Manipur Forest Training Institute Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu among others.
