Imphal, October 13 2025:
BJP leaders are still silent when Manipur has been broken and divided by enforcing an imaginary line called the "buffer zone" by Central forces, said Congress' Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit today.
He said this during Congress' Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod signature campaign at Sagolmang, Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency.
MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Khangabok AC MLA Okram Suijakumar, former Ministers, Dr Kh Ra-tan Kumar and N Loken among other party leaders attended the campaign organised at the Sagolmang Community Hall.
Speaking during the campaign, MLA K Ranjit said the evacuation of people of both communities during the peak of the violence in May 2023 was a step that should have never taken place.
Instead of evacuating them from their homes and villages, they should have been given adequate security, he said, hinting it could have avoided mass displacement of people who are unable to go back to their homes now.
He further asserted that by enforcing "buffer zones", the Central security forces are creating division and breaking Manipur apart.
When Manipur has been divided and broken by enforcing the imaginary buffer zones, the BJP leaders including the ex-Chief Minister are remaining silent, Ranjit said.
When the situation in Manipur has reached such a level, the BJP leaders are still "lying" to the people and claiming to form a popular Government soon, he said.
He then accused the BJP of stealing votes and undermining the country's Constitution.
The State and the people have suffered under the BJP.
To avoid such tragedies in the future, the party must be rooted out from the soil of the State and bring about Congress' Government in the 2027 elections, he added.
Ranjit said the Congress will not nominate candidates who will seek permission and wait for the High Command in Delhi to act.
