Imphal, September 13 2025:
Helping Hands for People (HHP), Manipur has successfully conducted a three-day interaction programme on "Voluntary Blood Donation" in Guwahati, Assam.
As per a release issued by HHP Manipur, the interaction programme was conducted with the aim to strengthen the Helping Hands Guwahati Chapter, which has been primarily working to support the people from Manipur seeking healthcare facilities in Guwahati.
The three-day programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from Manipuri teachers and students of Assam Down Town University, Don Bosco University (Sonapur), Royal Global University and NERIM Group of Institutions.
Manipuris who are employed at B Barooah Cancer Institute, Apollo Hospital and other Government & private institutions also provided their support in the successful conduct of the programme.
As part of the event, members of HHP Manipur met with Dr Chandana Kalita, HOD, Blood Centre, B Barooah Cancer Institute, and requested the doctor to make special arrangements for Manipuri patients by creating a 'Blood Reservation System'.
Dr Kalita accepted the proposal after considering the difficulties faced by patients from Manipur.
In this regard, HHP has appealed to all generous individuals from Manipur visiting Guwahati to contact HHP if they wish to donate their blood using the 'Reservation System' and help their fellow Manipuris who may need blood in the future.
Also, HHP has entered into a partnership with Raktaveer Voluntary Organisation, a blood donors organisation based in Guwahati to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations.
HHP and St Jude India Childcare Centre have also reached an agreement to facilitate accommodation and other needs for Manipuri cancer patients of the age group 4 to 12 years who are seeking medical care in Guwahati.
HHP further said that guardians/parents of cancer patients (4 to 12 years) who are facing difficulties in arranging accommodation, connecting with specialized medical services, etc can contact HHP for assistance.
