Union minister launches Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan launched by Union agriculture and farmers welfare minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be organised across the country by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Shivraj Chouhan has stated that the campaign will start from May 29 in over 700 districts and will run till June 12 .
As per a release by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel head Dr Asem Ameeta, during this period, agriculture scientists and officers and employees of the Ministry will form teams with local agricultural workers and visit different villages every day to directly communicate with the farmers and make them more aware about farming at their level and will give various advice.
The exercise is being done to realise the mantra of 'Lab to Land' given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union minister also convened a high-level meeting in Delhi on Monday, in which 731 KVKs across the country including KVK, Chandel, over 100 institutes of ICAR and other institutes related to agricultural science, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare participated in hybrid mode.
Union agriculture secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR director general Dr M L Jat were also present in the meeting.
The release quoted the Union minister as saying at the meeting that the purpose of the campaign is for accelerating development in the agriculture sector and ensure farmers get direct benefit from it.
During the campaign, awareness will be spread among the farmers about advanced techniques, new varieties and government schemes,
along with promoting natural farming.
