Need for cyber law awareness stressed

Imphal, May 12 2025: With science and technology making progress by leaps and bounds, there is a need for people to be educated about cyber security and cyber laws, asserted Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, MP Lok Sabha, Inner Manipur.

The LS MP made the statement at a one-day awareness programme on "Cyber security, cyber law and combating cyber harassment" held today at the Maharaja Bodhachandra College, Palace Compound.

The event was jointly organised by MB College and Manipur Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Angomcha Bimol highlighted the prevalence of cyber harassment and urged people to educate themselves on cyber security and cyber laws to combat such harassment.

Sharing his own experience with cyber harassment on social media, he said that he still receives unsavoury comments on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Dr Bhabananda Singh T, Principal, MB College said that scientific development has brought many changes in people's lives and underscored the need to be well-informed on the topic of cyber security and law during such changing times.

Dr Angom Buboo Singh, Scientist-E, NIELIT, Imphal; Cyber Crime OC Bhubon; Md Ajmal Hussain, Advocate, High Court of Manipur; Bineshwori Maibam, Addl Member Secretary MASLSA attended the event.
