Imphal, June 10 2013:
Opposition legislators have agreed in-principle to extend cooperation and pitch for a debate on the raging issue of ILP in the monsoon session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly which commenced from today, said NCP MLA and leader of opposition Dr I ibohalbi.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of dedicating a public pond at oinam Nongthombam Leikai under oinam AC today, the local representative informed that major/current issues besieging the State such as ILP, street vendors, eviction drive at Kabo Leikai Naga River Lane, Saijang-Silent village row, UNC bandh call in Naga-inhabited areas till june 18, old age pension scheme, shortage of fertilizers and MBBS/BDS entrance examination dispute would pursued by the opposition members in the current session.
Confiding that a meeting of seven MLAs of the Trinamool Congress had already worked out floor coordination strategy to press for debates in major issues confronting the State, he announced that even though a formal meeting of the opposition bench members had not been convened there is understanding amongst all the opposition MLAs for coordination during discussions on crucial issues in public interest.
When queried about frequent comments by Congress party leaders hinting at insignificant presence/role of Opposition members both inside and outside the assembly, he claimed that the Opposition is fully aware about activities of the ruling party.
maintaining that frequent posers by the general public on the administrative incompetency of the Government is a clear indication that the masses have lost faith upon the Govt, Dr Ibohalbi also asked the Congress regime to enlist project(s) implemented in the State within the timeframe or without any controversy.
He further stated that it is prerogative of the people whether on not they are satisfied with the performance of the Govt instead of the Congress leaders proclaiming that the Govt has lived upto the expectation of people.
