Imphal, May 09 2025:
Asserting that installation of a popular Government is a State subject, the People's Progressive Alliance Manipur (PPAM) has urged the MLAs to approach Governor AK Bhalla to urge for the installation of a new Government.
During a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, PPAM member Th Sujata said that when the Alliance launched a signature campaign for the installation of a popular Government in the State, only 3 out of 21 MLAs signed the petition while the rest refused saying that they have already submitted a memorandum to the Centre over the matter.
Saying that the signature campaign was launched in the interest of Manipur and not for personal reasons, she denounced the tepid response from a majority of the MLAs.
She accused them of failing to see the people's suffering while being too wrapped up in their own egos.
Questioning their over-reliance on orders from the Centre, she said that the "Idea of Manipur" will lose all its meaning considering their conduct.
Holding them responsible for the turmoil and disarray in Manipur, she termed their posts "meaningless" and urged them to stop their "theatrics" .
Th Sujata called upon the 21 State legislators to meet with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to facilitate the formation of a new Government, saying that such a move will receive widespread public support.
At the Centre, both the ruling and Opposition parties have united amid escalating Indo-Pak tensions.
The MLAs have to be aware of this development and remember that it is their obligation to save Manipur, she maintained.
