Imphal, August 06 2025: Two individuals, including a student, were found hanging at Khoiru Makha Leikai in Moirang and the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) this morning.

A 53-year-old hospital attendant at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Psychiatric Ward was found dead, hanging in the Isolation Ward early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sagolshem Sanatomba, also known as Arkung.

a resident of Sagolband Thingom Leirak.

He was on night duty and was residing in the hospital quarters.

According to RIMS employees present at the morgue, Sanatomba was discovered hanging in the veranda of the Isolation Ward.

The staff informed his family members, police, and other hospital employees after the discovery.

Following the post-mortem at the RIMS morgue, the body was handed over to the family for the last rites this afternoon.

Lamphel Police have registered an unnatural death (U/D) case and initiated further investigation.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy, Ningthoujam Grason, son of N Jayanta, an auto-rickshaw driver in Imphal, was found hanging at his residence at Khoiru Makha Leikai while his mother works at Nambol.

According to reports, Grason had been living alone at home for the past four days and he was a Class VIII student at LCM, Moirang.

His body has been handed over to his parents following an autopsy at RIMS.

A case has been registered at Moirang police station.
