Clinical Trial Workshop kicks off at RIMS

A three-day Clinical Trial Workshop under the DHR-ICMR Capacity Building Initiative for MRU-MRHRU Scheme commenced today at the Examination Hall, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The workshop is being organised by the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU), RIMS, Imphal, in collaboration with INTENT (ICMR-CCoE), KEMHRC, Pune, and NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, with support from the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi.
As per a release issued by RIMS, the inaugural function was graced by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; and Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), RIMS, as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar commended the MRU team for organising the programme and highlighted the growing research culture at RIMS.
He expressed gratitude to ICMR-DHR, KEM Hospital Research Centre, Pune, and NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, for their collaboration and support in promoting high-quality clinical research.
He also emphasized the importance of such workshops in strengthening research capacity, fostering collaboration, and guiding young clinicians and researchers in ethical and evidence-based studies.
A total of 34 participants, including doctors and researchers from RIMS, JNIMS, Arunachal Pradesh, and ICMR Dibrugarh (Assam), attended the first day of the workshop.
Eminent experts from KEM Hospital Research Centre, NEIGRIHMS, and ICMR conducted insightful sessions in hybrid mode.
Day 1 of the workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of clinical research, while the upcoming sessions will cover trial design, protocol development, and operational aspects.
The workshop aims to enhance participants' understanding of clinical research methodologies and strengthen research capacity in the North Eastern region under the MRU-MRHRU scheme.
