Bishnupur gears up to strengthen fight to eliminate Tuberculosis

Bishnupur, August 05 2025:
Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam today chaired the Tuberculosis (TB) Forum Meeting at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The meeting was organised by the District TB Centre under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP).
District TB Officer, Dr Soraisam Brojen Singh delivered a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation highlighting the healthcare facilities provided by the District TB Centre, key achievements under NTEP, the implementation of TB Preventive Therapy (TPT), and the role of Nikshay Mitras in the district's TB elimination efforts.
Addressing the meeting, DC Pooja Elangbam emphasized the need for early and rapid testing if suspected, to eliminate TB at the earliest.
She urged all stakeholders to actively participate in the collective mission to create a TB-free society.
Deputy Commissioner, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Toijam Opendro, readily agreed to serve as Nikshay Mitras, supporting TB patients in their recovery journey as proposed by Dr Brojen Singh.
The DC also reviewed the functioning of the District TB Office and appealed to all to work in unison for a TB-free Bishnupur.
Dr Brojen Singh expressed his gratitude and called for close cooperation from all stakeholders.
He encouraged the members of the TB Forum to share innovative ideas and strategies to support TB elimination in the district.
The meeting was also attended by members of the TB Forum, reaffirming their commitment to the national goal of eliminating tuberculosis.
