Animal Welfare Day 2025 observed

Lions Club of Imphal observed Animal Welfare Day, 2025 at its Service Centre, Sangaiprou today by handing over posters with the slogan "Be Kind to Animals" to the Directorate of Transport, Government of Manipur.
As per a release issued by Lions Club of Imphal, the posters which are to be pasted on public transport vehicles were handed over to the Director of Transport Khumanthem Diana Devi.
Speaking on the occasion, Khumanthem Diana said that the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India had made the display of the animal welfare slogan on all public transport vehicles in the country mandatory since April, 2025."In accordance with this announcement, the Directorate of Transport has also started to paste the posters on public transport vehicles in Manipur", she added.
She continued that the underlying idea behind this pioneering initiative is to instill a sense of kindness towards animals and to ensure safer roads for commuters and safeguarding the movement of animals.
She expressed gratitude to the Lions Club of Imphal for sponsoring some posters for the cause of animal welfare.
Manas Maisnam, president of Lions Club of Imphal said that this year is the centennial observance of Animal Welfare Day and the Club is privileged to be associated with such an initiative taken up at national level on such a significant day.
The function was attended by Samson Huidrom, Deputy Director (Transport); H Manikumar Singh, past district governor, District 322D; officials of the Directorate of Transport and members of Lions Club of Imphal.
