Imphal, September 03 2026: COCOMI Farmers' Wing and Nongchup Imphal Loumee-Sinmi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Imphal West have condoled the death of former Joint Director of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Professor of Seed Science at College of Agriculture, Imphal and Seed Scientist at CAU, I Meghachandra Singh, who passed away on September 1 due to illness.

In separate condolence messages, both organisations said the late scientist had imparted numerous training to farmers on improved crop production and was an expert in quality seed production and its benefits.

He played a major role in State planning for farmers' welfare and in production of organic certified seed in the State.

Terming his demise a great loss for the State and farming community, the bodies prayed for his soul to rest in peace and pledged to carry forward his work for farmers' welfare.
