Ex-ADC members submit memo over election delay

A delegation of Ex-ADC Members Forum, Manipur submitted a memorandum to Anurag Bajpai (IFS), Additional Chief Secretary Manipur Tribal Affairs and Hills Department over the prolonged delay in conducting ADC elections and pending implementation of pension scheme for the exADCs.
The team led by convenor RS Ngaranchui met Bajpai at the department's Sanjenthong Head Office in Imphal, said a release issued by the Forum.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the adverse impacts of the delay in ADC polls and called on the Additional CS to take immediate action for the restoration of democratic processes in the hill districts of Manipur.
Anurag Bajpai gave a positive response to the issues being raised and informed the delegation that the file for extending pension benefits to exADC members is making great progress and will be rolled out for implementation at the earliest.
On another note, he outlined his focus and priority in the hill districts and deliberated over the topics of strengthening the education system in the hill districts, strengthening health infrastructure, functioning of medical staff and manpower requirements in the border villages of interior hill districts and connectivity by means of PMGSY and Inter Village Roads for the growth and prosperity of the villages.
Marking a first for the State, he informed that carbon trading facilities and projects with investment from major industries have been initiated and works are in progress for signing the final agreements with global partners and associates.
According to the Additional CS, five village authorities and councils have signed the agreement to raise the carbon trading plantations under good forest cover as a pilot project for Manipur under the Forest Department.
Further, he spoke about establishing industrial estates, MSME technology and tool room centres and launching of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) in the hill districts.
