FEELS organises awareness programme

FEELS (Fraternity of East Eyes Line Society) in collaboration with the village authority of Kangkhui Phungdhar organized a function titled "Expedition Alfresco" at Harvakhangai peak located 1 mile east of Khangkhui village, Ukhrul yesterday.
Organized to create awareness of the location as the first battle of second world war on Indian soil, the function was attended by Samuel Risom, MLA, 44 A/C (ST) Ukhrul Constituency, Brigadier Peeyush Panday, VSM, DIG 10 Sector, Assam Riffles, RK Saha, Commander, 25 BRTF, Manipur, Yumnam Rajeshwor Singh, Co-founder 2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation, the village head and chairman of Khangkhui Phungdhar.

MLA Simon Risom spoke on the responsibility of the people to make Khangkhui a tourist destination.
He said, "Days are not far when the Japanese and the British will come to the location as tourists" .
Brigadier Peeyush also commented on the beauty of the location and the tourism potential the place is gifted with.
Yumnam Rajeshwor explained the battle from his research findings and highlighted the strategic importance of the location and the consequences of the battle.
The function was also attended by members of Royal Riders Manipur and around 300 local people.
Cultural troupes and local artists also entertained the gathering with pomp and show.
