Imphal, March 14 2019:
Late Ch Sanjit's mother Chungkham (O) Taratombi said in a tone fraught with utter helplessness that the hope of getting justice to the killing of her son is sinking day by day.
Ch Sanjit was killed by police commandos in broad day light at BT Road on July 23, 2009.Since then, Taratombi has been struggling for justice amidst all the trauma and pain she has been suffering.
Speaking to media persons at Kwakeithel this evening, Taratombi said that she has already filed an impleadment petition in August last year at the High Court of Manipur in connection with a case between CBI and the then Addl SP Dr AK Jhaljit.
But there has been no response from the High Court till date.
Taratombi's counsel Advocate Shreeji Bhavsar recounted that one commando personnel Thounaojam Herojit revealed before the media in 2016 that Sanjit was shot dead at the instruction of the then Addl SP Dr AK Jhaljit.
At that time, a trial was going on at the Sessions Court after investigation by CBI into the killing of Sanjit, Bhavsar said.
The CBI requested the Session Court permission for further investigation into the case and the Court granted due permission.
Challenging the Session Court's order for further investigation, Dr Jhaljit filed a petition at the High Court of Manipur.
Subsequently, the High Court issued a stay order in March 2017 regarding the order issued by the Session Court.
After Taratombi filed an impleadment petition at the High Court, 10 rounds of hearing have been held.
On the other hand, out of 250 witnesses, statements of 100 witnesses had been examined, Bhavsar said.
"My client has been asking repeatedly as to why whether the question of granting permission to CBI for further investigation is being delayed for two years and whether extrajudicial killing is some trivial matter", he continued.
"I have been telling to trust the judiciary system and justice would be delivered one day", Bhavsar conveyed.
He further exuded confidence that the High Court of Manipur would soon issue a directive regarding the matter.
