National Sports Day celebrated

The Sports Club, Mount Everest College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the District Youth Affairs & Sports Office (DYASO), Senapati, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm at the college auditorium hall on August 29.The event was attended by the students and faculties of the college and officials of the District Youth Affairs & Sports Office, Senapati, including John Longkhaye, Youth Officer, DYASO, Senapati, L Pfokrehrii Nelina, Khelo India, Mentor (Badminton) and Khopuh, Khelo India, Mentor (Indigenous Wrestling).
The celebration, held under the banner of Khelo India and Fit India Movement, commemorated the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
Niomchung Jatak Chiru, IQAC Coordinator, MEC highlighted the importance of sports in fostering unity, discipline, fitness and Nation-building.
John Longkhaye, Youth Officer, DYASO, Senapati, spoke on Government schemes under Khelo India, about fitness, and career opportunities in sports.
A fitness pledge was also taken during the programme.
The National Sports Day was also observed at Indoor Table Tennis Hall at Thoubal today.
The event was organised by the DYASO, Thoubal and KIC (TT), Thoubal.
DYASO, Thoubal Deven Moirangthem, Thoubal District Table Tennis Association, Thoubal vice-president Dr P Khogendra Singh, MY Bharat, Manipur retired State Director L Marjitkumar Singh and Thoubal District Table Tennis Association patron N Suran Singh attended the event.
