Allegations raised against hospital

Thoubal, May 29 2025: Ima Hospital located at Kakching Keithel has been blamed for wasting precious time leading to the death of a heart attack patient.

Khamranshel Tontang (65) of Khangshim village, Kakching Lamkhai was rushed to Ima Hospital as he complained of chest pain at around 10.30 pm on May 23.On reaching the hospital, it was confirmed that Khamranshel had suffered a heart attack, said his wife Shangnaidar Tontang He was allegedly kept in the hospital whole night and the hospital authority said that doctors were treating him.

Considering the critical condition of the patient, his family told Ima Hospital authority they would like to take the patient to a hospital at Imphal the next morning.

But the doctors maintained that several tests were yet to be done and the tests were done one after another, the bereaved wife further alleged.

On the repeated insistence of the family, Khamranshel was taken to Shija Hospital at around 8 am of May 24 but he died there after a few hours of treatment, Shangnaidar said, pointing fingers of accusation at Ima Hospital.

Social activist Darngam Khaling said that they would lodge an FIR at Kakching police station against Ima Hospital management in connection with the death of his uncle Khamranshel apart from filing a complaint at the consumer Court.
