CPI Manipur urges State Govt to address public demands like Centre did on NEET issue

Imphal, July 28 2026: The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council has urged the State Government to follow the Centre's example in responding to public protests and address the long-pending grievances of the people.

Speaking at a press conference held at Irawat Bhavan, Rupmahal Tank on Tuesday, CPI Manipur State Council spokesperson RK Amusana said the Union Government's decision on the recent NEET-UG question paper leak issue came after public pressure.

He said the State Government should learn from this and take steps to fulfill the demands of the people of Manipur.

Referring to the "Save Manipur" protest held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Amusana alleged that the State Home Minister dismissed it as the voice of a few individuals.

He accused the State leadership of trying to mislead Central leaders by projecting a false image of peace in the State.

"Today's fire will bum everyone tomorrow if ignored.

The Government must not be blind to this", he said.

Amusana further demanded that the State Government withdraw cases filed against youth who stood for the State during the crisis since May 3, 2023.He also urged the Government to provide compensation to those injured during the Delhi protest and to refrain from filing any kind of case against the protesters.

He said the protest erupted due to the failure of the Government and lauded the participants and the "Cockroach Janata Party" for joining the movement.
