KDSMCSL alleges fraudulent sale of land, godown

Kakching, July 26 2026: The Kakching District Supply and Marketing Co-operative Society Limited (KDSMCSL) has alleged the fraudulent sale of its 1.25-acre land, including a godown at Kakching Lamdong, without the knowledge or consent of its members and demanded legal action against those responsible.

Addressing a press conference held at the society's godown at Kakching Lamdong today, KDSMCSL president Konthoujam Manihar alleged that the property, located at Village No 63, Kakching Wairi, Patta No 449 (Old), 50/536 (New) SC, Dag No 1077/1384, was intended for storing fertilisers and seeds for the society.

He alleged that certain individuals forged the signatures of society members, including deceased members, and secretly sold the property to a private individual on July 22, 2022 .

Manihar said the society was initially registered as the Thoubal District Supply and Marketing Co-operative Society Limited (TDSMCSL) under Registration No 11 of 1986-87, before Kakching was carved out as a separate district.

He further alleged that former board members misused a 10-year mortgage agreement involving another property at Village No 30, Khetri Leikai, measuring 0.2509 acres and mortgaged for Rs 10 lakh.

He claimed that the agreement was subsequently used as a pretext to execute a "Mortgage by Conditional Sale" to illegally transfer the Kakching Lamdong godown property to a private party.

Describing the alleged forging of signatures and formation of a fraudulent board to sell the society's land and godown for personal gain as a serious offence, Manihar urged the Chief Minister of Manipur, the concerned authorities, and the public to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that the alleged offenders are brought to justice under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 .

Manihar further claimed that the present board in Thoubal, constituted in 2019, was not a valid board as it was allegedly formed without following the prescribed Recruitment Rules (RR).

He urged the competent authorities to investigate the matter and dissolve the board immediately if any irregularities are established.

As Kakching and Thoubal are now separate districts, he also appealed to the authorities to place the society's properties in both districts under Boards of Administrators.

Manihar sought the support of the MLAs of Kakching and Thoubal districts in resolving the issues concerning the society and announced that a written complaint would be submitted to Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah.
