District-level Reading Mela held at Kakching Hr Sec School

Kakching, October 25 2025:
A District Level Reading Mela 2024-25 was held today at Kakching Higher Secondary School in Kakching District under the supervision of District Administration.
The event was organised by the Zonal Education Office, Kakching under the Samagra Shiksha Manipur.
Around 60 students from Classes I and II participated in the Reading Mela, which aims to promote foundational literacy and a love of reading among school students in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.The function was graced by Mayanglambam Rakhesh Singh (MES), Zonal Education Officer, Kakching; Naorem Nomita Devi, Principal of Kakching Higher Secondary School; Kh Binodini (MES), DI of Schools, Zonal Education Office, Kakching and Y.Lokendro Singh (MES), AI of Schools, Zonal Education Office, Kakching.
Speaking at the function, Mayanglambam Rakhesh highlighted that under the NEP 2020 framework and its objectives, students must develop the ability to read, write and comprehend what they read.
Stating that such programmes are essential to achieve these goals, he announced that efforts are underway to extend similar activities to higher classes.
He further urged teachers and parents to extend full cooperation.
In the Reading Mela (competition) for Class I category, Amom Nongdren of Wangoo Laipham Upper Primary School won the first position, while Th Linthoingamba of Elangkhangpokpi Junior High School and Th Biju of Langmeidong Primary School, secured second and third positions respectively.
In the Class II category, Reihan of Hangoon Primary Madrasa clinched the first position, while O Lanchenbi of Langmeidong Primary School and Linthoi of Kakching Makha High School secured second and third positions respectively.
The winners were awarded certificates, mementoes and cash prizes, and will participate in the State Level Reading Mela.
