DMU marks World Philosophy Day 2025 with symposium

The Department of Philosophy, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) organised "World Philosophy Day Symposium 2025" at the Conference Hall of Principal's Office Building, DM College of Arts today.
Observed under the theme "Importance of Philosophy in Life", the programme brought together students, faculty members, and invited dignitaries to discuss the enduring significance of philosophical reflection.
Professor S Lanchenba Meetei, Dean, School of Humanities, DMU and Principal of DM College of Arts, graced the occasion as chief guest.
Former Principal of DM College of Arts, Dr A Dorendra Singh, and former Head of the Department of Philosophy, DMU, Dr Kh Gokulchandra Singh, attended as guests of honour.
The event was presided over by Dr Sarat Sarma, Head of the Department of Philosophy (PG), DMU.
The event began at 10 am with the arrival of invitees, followed by a welcome address, lighting of the lamp, and presentation of tokens of appreciation.
The dignitaries delivered short speeches that emphasised the role of philosophical thinking in cultivating clarity, ethical awareness, and responsible citizenship.
The student symposium commenced at 1 pm, featuring brief presentations from undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Topics ranged across existentialism, stoicism, Augustine's notion of sapientia, Kant's ideas on moral reasoning, Hegelian consciousness, and the contribution of philosophy to mental health and self-under-standing.
